HC SMITTY
Grew up in Rust Belt America, a teenager in the 80s, and a young man in the 90s. HC took the road less traveled and got his education in the streets. First arrested in 1981 and on probation by 1983, and locked up by 1985. He has been in the system in one form or another for over 40 years. 20 plus years spent in prison, it became a way of life, and he still works at undoing the institutionalization and finds ways to cope with the trauma. HC doesn't glorify prison in his writing, he tells it as he sees it through the eyes of a veterano of the streets and the yard. A Certified Recovery/Family Specialist with a Forensic Enhancement. HC wants to use his experiences as a means to reach others and lead them into the light. He had written a novella, Max Out, a Novel Down, a textbook on Surviving prison called Prison Dynamics, and his memoir, White Trash Legend a true story by HC Smitty. He is working on a novel, 5150, and a screenplay titled "The Rev." He lives along Lake Erie with his wife, Shelly.
